Meet Charly Collins, our employee spotlight of the month. Charly grew up in Washburn, Maine and went to college at Husson University in Bangor, Maine. She started working for Smith’s Farm when she was 19. When she first started working for the farm she was just filling in for Jennifer Edgecomb, our accounting manager, who was on maternity leave. However, she fell in love with the company and never left.
Charly has been with Smith’s Farm for 11 years and works in accounting and human resources. She assists Emily Smith with all the paperwork when the crew arrives. She also works closely with our payroll company and with Pete Hallowell, our CFO, on budgeting and cost accounting.
Charly loves working for Smith’s Farm because of how welcoming and inclusive they are. Charly says, “They make you feel like you’re part of the family”. She also says that Smith’s Farm has always been extremely flexible and accommodating where it comes to her personal life. “They give you the tools to succeed both at work and at home”, says Charly.
When she’s not working, Charly enjoys spending her free time with her husband James and her son Simon, who is 2 years old, and her stepson James III, who is 7 years old. They love spending time outdoors, as a family, including going to the lake in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter. She’s a great asset to our company and we are so grateful to have her as part of our team!
